We have all experienced some form of pain in our lives. From losing a loved one or a job to childbirth, as well as other major life events or minor injuries. But my question is…have you heard God speak through your pain? YES! God speaks to us in our pain. When we are about to give up, He speaks. When we are hurting He speaks, but the problem is… are we listening?

I have had my share of pain, and I remember fighting God through that pain. It was one of the darkest moments of my life. I lost my mom, my admission into nursing school, then my sister, all in the space of one year. I almost gave up. Depression became my best friend. I almost ended it all. “What is left for me”, I questioned myself. I was called a failure. I failed. I was in pain. Physically and emotionally. I was in deep pain.

Yet, in the midst of the failures and pain, I heard God’s voice speaking to me loud and clear, telling me not to give up, that He had special plans for me.  Deuteronomy 31:6&8 kept ringing in my ears. The scripture says “so be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. for the Lord, your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you. 8. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; He will neither fail you nor abandon you”

This bible passage kept me through my toughest times. I had to remind myself that I am loved, I am valued, and I am blessed. I have learned a lot from my pain. It felt like it was never going to end, but I could clearly hear God speaking to me in the midst of it all.

Friends, the next time you go through hardship or experience life’s challenges, know that it is only for a moment. I leave you with these questions:

How have you learned from your pain?

Was it worth it?

How did you deal with your pain?
