Sometime last year, I went on a journey for personal development and growth. I went on a book rampage, buying numerous books on leadership, to finance, spiritual growth and personal growth. One of my goals this year, is to read at least one book a month (current read: 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen  Covey) (Look out for book review soon).

With all that I read, and learned, I started some online self-studying to improve my skills and gain new skills. I got to find out that there are a vast of resources out there to gain new skills. Isn’t it sad to say that we live in a time when there is so much information out there that people do not utilize?  Most of the information is free, or a minimal amount as little as $5 or more.  Then if we are in an information overload century, why aren’t people developing? Why are teenagers wasting their time on social media and things that are not improving them?

Here are some available and cheap resources to utilize this year to add more value to yourself this year:

  1. Groupon
  2. Udemy
  3. Skill Success
  4. Coursera
  5. YouTube

PS: Not for promotional purposes (not getting paid to promote these sites), these are the sites I used in learning about certain areas and gained new skills.

I leave you with this: You can never lose anything by gaining something new. The new item you have can be lost or devalued, but your knowledge or skills will never be lost or devalued.” -Sarah Okorafor
